Police released the first photograph of a murder victim whose body was found ablaze on a south London street.

Loeike Guei, 23, lived in Thornton Heath, but was found on fire at 6.12am on Thursday, September 17, at Commonside East in Mitcham.

Agents attended and the body of a man was found. His family is conscientious and supported by specially trained officers.

Death is being treated as suspicious. Yesterday began a post-mortem examination and gave as a preliminary cause of death a head injury.

At this time, no arrests have been made.

The crime scene remains in place and investigations are underway to establish all the circumstances.

The Met’s Crime Specialist Command is investigating, led by Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley.

He said: “ Loeike’s family has been deeply shocked by the loss of their loved one and is beginning to accept their grief.

“ The most important thing in our thoughts is your well-being – you are being supported by specially trained officers and we ask that your privacy be respected at this terribly sad time.

“We are in the early stages of our investigation and we are keeping an open mind regarding any reason.”

The force has been making “good progress” with “a number of clues” but wants anyone who has seen anything to come forward.

“What I need now is for anyone who has not spoken to us yet but has seen suspicious activity or vehicles in the vicinity to contact us immediately,” he added.

Tania Marszalek, 39, who lives on the road where the body was found, told the Sun: ‘My dogs woke me up around 6 a.m.

“ It bothered me that I was woken up before my alarm and I looked outside to see what was going on; I saw a police officer tying a cord of red tape to the rear view mirror of my car.

‘I immediately wanted to know what was going on and asked the officers who didn’t tell me much at all.

“There are people on the street who say that a guy was found at the end of the street on fire after being mutilated, he was still alive when they found him.”
