FA Cup: Manchester United tied against Liverpool in the fourth round | FA Cup

Manchester United host Premier League champions Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Monday night’s draw threw United into battle with Jürgen Klopp’s men and the match will take place just a week after Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. The last time the Merseyside club won the FA Cup, in 2006, they beat United en route to the final, winning 1-0 in the fifth round.

Chorley’s reward from the NL north side for their win over a sold-out Derby was a home draw with the Premier League Wolves, while Manchester City will head to League Two from Cheltenham Town.

Tottenham, a 5-0 third round winner at Marine, is on the road again, with Championship fighter Wycombe this time as an opponent.

Chelsea host Luton Town from the Championship, while Sheffield United, who recorded their first win of the season at Bristol Rovers on Saturday, will play Plymouth Argyle.

Fulham take on Burnley in a Premier League showdown, while League Two’s Crawley Town, which stunned Leeds United, are absent in Bournemouth. The fifth round draw also took place on Monday, with the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ avoiding clashes with each other should they advance.

If Chorley pulls up a surprise against the Wolves, they could have another big date ahead of them after the fifth round draw threw the winners out to face Southampton, Shrewsbury or the 14-time winner Arsenal.

On Sunday, Neil Kengni gave Tottenham a scare when his shot hit the crossbar in the 20th minute of Marine’s FA Cup tie. On Monday he attended a Zoom health and safety tutorial for his plumbing apprenticeship course from his home in Manchester.

Kengni, 20, said he was still assimilating his moment in the limelight, describing it as “a little surreal” playing against some of the best players in the world whom he would normally spend weekends watching on television. He recounts chatting with Dele Alli and Lucas Moura, describing them as “sound boys”.

The eighth-level club player says he’s “gutted” because his shot didn’t go in, as he repeats the moment over and over. “I think I hit him too high.” He hopes the Marines players will continue to make everyone proud, despite the eventual 5-0 loss to the Spurs, adding, “We kept going until the last minute.”

Kengni’s family moved from Cameroon to the UK when he was 10 years old and settled in Wythenshawe, the famous home of United’s Marcus Rashford, another of his heroes. “Watching him grow through football to become one of the best players in the world is incredible. And hopefully, in God’s hands, I can do the same. “So Kengni hopes to follow in his footsteps?

“Yes,” he says, “I hope to be a professional soccer player … and hopefully still, you know, get my plumbing degree.”

Chorley coach Jamie Vermiglio told BBC Sport: “That’s what we really wanted, Premier League opposition, great. And there’s a bit of history because in 1986, Chorley played the Wolves at home and beat them 3-0, so we have to do it again. “

Southampton’s third-round draw with Shrewsbury has yet to be decided after the game was called off when Shrewsbury reported Covid-19 cases on their team.

The winners in the Manchester United vs. Liverpool showdown will face West Ham or Doncaster, while Wycombe or Tottenham will travel to the winners of the tie between Everton and Sheffield Wednesday.
