Pep Guardiola anticipated Manchester City’s FA Cup quarter-finals with Everton in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
City are looking to keep looking for the quad, but will face the toughest test of the FA Cup yet at Goodison Park, to face Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton. The Blues beat Birmingham, Cheltenham and Swansea to reach this stage.
“Every competition is difficult, it is a knockout match,” Guardiola said. “We won [the FA Cup] once, semifinals twice, not bad. I’m not saying that we don’t take this competition seriously, we know how important it is in this country. The quarterfinals, Goodison Park, Everton away, will be tough.
“We were there a few weeks ago, they know how difficult it is to beat them. We won in the second half thanks to exceptional actions from Bernardo and Riyad. Calvert-Lewin is back, who is an important striker for them this season.”
“The last game before an international break, and an incredible streak. Hopefully we can finish well and start the important part of the season.”
