Essex Snow – Latest List of Container Pickups Suspended in Essex Due to Storm Darcy

[ad_1]

Several container pickups have been suspended in Essex due to snow.

City councils have announced that container pickups where heavy snow and ice have made conditions unsafe for crews and the public have been suspended.

Other services continue, but delays are likely when routes have been changed to accommodate snow conditions.

A yellow weather advisory remains in effect from the Weather Office bringing a considerable amount of snow and ice to the area as temperatures drop.

With more snow on the way, the situation is likely to change for some municipalities.

We’ve compiled a list of the latest updates for each tip on container collection.

Basildon

Basildon City Council suspended some of its container services yesterday after heavy snow hit the city.

This morning the City Council confirmed that waste collection and recycling has been suspended due to “unsafe conditions for crews and the public.”

This means that pending collections on Monday and Tuesday will not go as planned. The council said it would post updates when it gets them.

Braintree

Braintree binmen is working hard to collect residents’ trash

Braintree’s dumpster teams are still hard at work collecting and cleaning residents’ trash.

The council warned on Twitter this morning that there may be a slight delay on their route to you in the snow, so don’t be surprised if they arrive at a different time than you expect.

If your containers are lost, you can report them on the council’s website.

Colchester

The Colchester City Council confirmed that it is still trying to collect all the trash despite the winter conditions.

However, snow and ice have caused some disturbances where it is not safe to collect them.

They tweeted: “We will try to collect where it is safe to do so, but road and sidewalk conditions, particularly secondary roads, make it impossible for HGV vehicles to operate safely.”

Thurrock

The household waste recycling center in Thurrock was closed and waste collection and recycling was suspended today due to bad weather conditions.

The city council has asked residents to take their garbage and recycling containers off the streets.

Trash crews continue to clear street snow and City Hall will provide an update when they get it.

To tend

The Tendring Council suspended all waste and recycling collections yesterday due to snow that made conditions unsafe.

However, the service has resumed today (February 9), but some roads may not yet be accessible.

Residents are asked to keep waste and recycling outside, and Veolia will try to collect as much of it as possible.

Check the weather where you are:

Rochford

Due to the severe weather, all waste collections have been suspended until further notice by the Rochford District Council.

This will cause some delays in pickup services this week.

Residents are advised to leave their containers outside if possible so that they can be emptied in the normal way, placing them on their property lines by 7am on the day of collection.

If the recycling isn’t picked up as expected, continue to present the bin while they try to catch up.

They added: “We are sorry that we are canceling the compostable container collection scheduled for this week, we will not be able to collect until the following week on the normal scheduled day.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this disruption may cause to residents.”

Uttlesford

Due to the current extreme weather conditions, there may be changes to your scheduled waste pickups this week in Uttlesford.

Yard trash will be suspended with no pickups taking place, and if bad weather continues, there may be delays in scheduled recycling pickups.

The Uttlesford District Council said it has diverted resources and is planning ahead to ensure the least amount of disruption.

Castle point

The Castle Point City Council has confirmed that all trash and recycling collections are functioning normally today.

They have asked residents to present debris as normal, but know that service can be a bit slower as the sidewalks are still a bit icy underfoot.

Harlow

Container teams are in Harlow today catching up on collections and carrying out today’s collections.

The council warned residents that road conditions could make it difficult to access some areas, so there may still be some disruptions.

Maldon

All waste and recycling collections are suspended until further notice in Maldon due to current weather conditions.

The council tweeted that they will review and update this as conditions improve.

  • There appear to be no updates to the Chelmsford, Southend, or Epping Forest container collection.
