Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles are at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex ahead of their move to the club on Deadline Day.
Cavani, who is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season, will sign a two-year contract and bring valuable experience to United’s youthful front line.
Telles is expected to arrive at Old Trafford on a five-year deal after United agreed to a £ 15.4 million contract with Porto on Sunday, just hours after the Portuguese club rejected his initial offer.
The 27-year-old left-back, who is in the final year of his contract with Porto, will travel to Brazil to join the national team once he has completed his move to United.
Cavani and Telles may not be the only two arrivals at Old Trafford on the cutoff day, though United must complete any deals by 11pm, when the Premier League transfer window closes.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been eager to sign a winger throughout the window and United have been in talks with Barcelona about the loan of Ousmane Dembélé, although it is understood that both Barça and the 23-year-old prefer a permanent deal.
Dembélé’s decision came after Borussia Dortmund rejected United’s £ 91.3 million offer, Jadon Sancho, last week.
The Bundesliga team have repeatedly insisted that any deal for the England winger had to be completed by 10 August, and that the £ 108 million asking price had to be met.
United are also looking at 18-year-old Peñarol winger Facundo Pellistri, although the Uruguayan’s move is expected to be one for the future.
In addition to the innings, there could also be outings from Old Trafford on Monday, with Chris Smalling’s return to Rome still on the table.
United hopes the Serie A club, where Smalling was on loan last season, will return with an improved offer, although he could stay and fight for his place in United’s defense.
Jesse Lingard and Sergio Romero could also leave the club, although potential suitors are understood to be put off by their high salaries.
Lingard has yet to appear for United in the league this season, and is in the final year of his contract, while Romero has been downgraded to third-choice goalkeeper following Dean Henderson’s return from his loan stint at Sheffield United.
Neville: Man Utd’s business is not good enough
Gary Neville says Edinson Cavani’s imminent arrival at Manchester United is an exciting and intriguing transfer, but he questioned the process behind the deal and called the club’s approach in this window “not good enough.”
Speaking in co-comments when Manchester United was ripped apart by Tottenham in the first half of their Super sunday In the clash at Old Trafford, Neville reiterated his belief that United’s failure to act faster in the transfer window has left them on par with their rivals.
“Manchester United came out of the confinement with class. Then they finished third in the league. There were a couple of months before the start of the season where I think they took the victory loss when they did not strengthen,” he said.
“And now they are fighting on the last day of the deadline to do something about it. It is not good enough. All the other clubs have done their thing.”

Ole: I take full responsibility for the shameful defeat
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United have to look in the mirror after taking full responsibility for their “shameful” 6-1 loss to Tottenham.
United suffered their heaviest home defeat in the Premier League as Spurs took advantage of a chaotic collapse to deepen the desperate mood surrounding Old Trafford.
“It’s embarrassing, I put my hands up, it’s my fault. It’s not Manchester United,” Solskjaer said. Sky Sports. “You don’t win games by making individual mistakes, mistakes and a performance like that.
“It wasn’t good enough. Today is the worst. I can’t say more than that. When you have a loss like this, you have to look in the mirror.”
Analysis: Man Utd’s defense in disarray
It became a humiliation. Given the rarity of Manchester United teams being beaten as they were by Tottenham on Sunday, it was also historic.
This 6-1 loss was only the second time United have let in so many in a Premier League game at Old Trafford. They hadn’t let four in the first half of a league game since 1957 before this one.
Sky Sports’ Gary Neville described the performance as “pathetic” but perhaps most alarmingly it was coming. United’s defense has been in disarray this season.
