Four adults and a child have been rescued after a building collapsed following an alleged gas explosion.
Fire crews were called to King Street in Ealing, west London, in what they say is a “complex operation”.
The explosion reportedly occurred inside a phone store, Dr. Phone, with floors above it, and left at least one man injured.
The shop owner, Jatinder Singh, 36, said he received a phone call from a neighbor to tell him that his mobile phone shop had been totally destroyed.
He told the Evening Standard: “It is an absolute disaster.”
Station commander Alan Brand, who is at the scene, said: “Four adults and a child were rescued from the rear of the property by firefighters using a ladder.
Fourteen other adults and two children evacuated from the surrounding properties. Teams of specialists are searching the building for anyone else who may be involved.
