Thousands of supporters of the president demonstrated in Freedom Plaza, east of the White House.

They came together to support Trump’s claim, which has been dismissed by experts in independent polls, that the election was rigged against him.

However, clashes later broke out between supporters of the president and counter-protesters, including some dressed in black whom a Republican politician labeled “Antifa.”

Images posted on social media appear to show Trump supporters in a restaurant being attacked with fireworks and other projectiles.

The video was posted by Lauren Witzke, who ran unsuccessfully as a Republican Senate candidate in the elections earlier this month.

She warned: “Stay tuned and travel in groups if you’re still around, heading to your hotel, dinner, or car!”

Other videos posted on Twitter show Trump supporters being harassed and in some cases attacked by opposing protesters as police try to maintain order.

In one, a young couple are chased down a street while liquid is thrown in their faces.

Several fistfights between supporters and opponents of the president were also filmed, including an incident that left a Trump supporter injured on the ground.

According to the BBC, Trump’s supporters included members of far-right groups such as the Proud Boys, some of whom wore bulletproof vests.

President Trump’s caravan passed the rally earlier in the day drawing loud cheers from his supporters.

Since the Nov. 3 poll, Trump has been claiming, without providing clear evidence, that the election was rigged to favor Joe Biden.

However, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, a federal agency, described the survey as “the safest in the history of the United States.”

Biden won the presidential election after garnering 306 votes in the electoral college, significantly more than the 270 threshold for victory.

However, the Trump campaign continues with legal action against the results in several states.
