Donald Trump challenged Joe Biden to take a drug test before tomorrow’s television debate, and Biden’s campaign gave an equally strange response.
The president has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that Biden has relied on “performance-enhancing drugs” in previous debates against fellow Democrat Bernie Sanders.
The strange line of attack came to a head today, 24 hours before the first presidential debate of the 2020 U.S. elections in Cleveland, Ohio.
The president challenged Biden to take a drug test before the confrontation, saying he would do the same.
I will vigorously demand a Sleepy Joe Biden Drug Test before or after the Debate on Tuesday night. Naturally, I will also agree to have one, ”Trump wrote on Twitter.
“His performances in Debate have broken UNEVEN records, to put it mildly. Could only drugs have caused this discrepancy?
In response, Kate Bedingfield, Biden’s deputy campaign manager, treated the president’s challenge with all the seriousness it deserved.
“Vice President Biden intends to put the answers to his discussions in words. If the president thinks his best case is urine, he can do it, ”he said.
“We would expect nothing less from Donald Trump, who squandered the opportunity to protect the lives of 200,000 Americans when he failed to make a plan to stop COVID-19.”
We can’t be sure, but we think this could be the first time the word “urine” has been used in an official statement from a major presidential campaign.
The first debate will take place on September 29 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The debate will be broadcast live on all major news channels starting at 2am UK time, including BBC News and Sky News, and on CNN, which is available on Sky TV in the UK.
