A dog was found dead after a man and a woman were attacked by their own pet in a garden last night.

Emergency services were called to Carlton Street in Prescot at around 6.40 pm on Monday, October 26, following reports of a dog attack.

Once there, officers found a dead dog, but the breed has not been confirmed at this stage.

The force said an investigation was launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, but officers said a man and a woman were found injured on the property after their dog reportedly attacked them in a garden.

His injuries are understood to be minor.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that emergency services were in Prescot last night, Monday, October 26, following a dog attack.

“Around 6.40pm, officers and ambulance service were called to Carlton Street to report that a man and a woman had been injured by their dog in a garden.

“A dead dog was found on the property and both people suffered minor injuries. An investigation has been launched to establish any wrongdoing under the Dangerous Dogs Act.”
