Dean Smith believes he has found the perfect remedy to look good in the Premier League when Aston Villa beat Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage.

The victory was Villa’s second in as many Premier League games and his first on the road since New Year’s Day.

The ever-brilliant Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and Tyrone Mings scored the goals, and Villa also posted his second consecutive clean sheet, and first away from home in 27 league games.

Afterward, Smith was asked what he liked the most and said: “It was a good performance in all respects, we have the right balance at the moment.

“We have good quality going into attack and there is a real desire to keep the ball out of the back of the net at the moment, which is really nice.”

“It is the balance between defense and attack. It is something very difficult to achieve in football.

“Before the lockdown we were guilty of being enthusiastic about trying to win games. After the lockdown, we defended deeper and in numbers. We scored some good goals tonight and showed resistance to keep a clean sheet.”

The boss was asked about the core of Villa players that came to light in Fulham, adding: “It was a full team performance. There was no one to shirk a challenge.

“It was very nice to have JJ (Jacob Ramsey) as well. He earned the opportunity with his performance at Bristol City to make his Premier League debut and received a round of applause from the players.”
