David Moyes has praised West Ham owners David Gold and David Sullivan for giving him control over the club’s strategy and is confident of succeeding given time.
West Ham has lacked a consistent hiring strategy in the past, but Moyes feels Gold and Sullivan respect his opinion on potential signings. The manager is enjoying his second spell at the London Stadium and, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he hopes to have talks on a new deal in due course.
“The Davids have given me all the control I could possibly want,” Moyes said. “Obviously, I don’t sign the check to pay it, but all I can do is recommend and say what I think we should bring, what I think would give us a chance, and they have been very good.
“We tested with several players in the [previous transfer] window and we didn’t get one or two center halves that we were looking for, but the truth is that we have worked hard to improve. There is no one who can do everything right all the time. But I think we are trying to do it with a little more design. “
West Ham, which will likely be without Michail Antonio for at least a month after the forward suffered a hamstring injury in last week’s draw with Manchester City, is unbeaten in four games before visiting the Liverpool on Saturday.
