Daniel Dubois stopped Ricardo Snijders in the second round as he prepared his destructive power for a domestic heavyweight showdown with Joe Joyce.

The undefeated 22-year-old has been forced to await his British and European battle with Joyce and sharpened his skills against the outgunned Dutchman, who was knocked down four times before the fight was stopped at Stratford.

Snijders had stepped in as a replacement opponent and did not enjoy the task, collapsing to the canvas twice in the first round after taking crunchy body shots from Dubois.

But Dubois prompted referee Marcus McDonnell to step in, just seconds after the next round, after his malicious shots sent Snijders back to the ground.

Joyce outpointed Michael Wallisch in three rounds in their warm-up fight last month and the Olympic silver medalist will now face Dubois in a rescheduled clash at The O2 on October 24.

The 22-year-old hopes to resolve his British rivalry with Joe Joyce next month.

“I wanted to go there to impress,” Dubois said. BT sport. “The only way I thought I could do that was by trying to remove it right away.

“But I had to relax a little bit, hold back a little and just snap in, and then I did the job easily.

“You don’t get paid for overtime in this game. I was on a mission. Get rid of the cobwebs and do it again. Now I feel like I’ve done that. I need a step forward.”
