Dani Ceballos has returned to Arsenal on loan after Real Madrid sanctioned another one-season loan contract in north London.

The Spaniard moved to the Emirates last summer under the direction of Unai Emery and the gunners fought off competition for their services.

Arteta replaced his compatriot in December, but Ceballos impressed him enough to seek another loan deal.

The 24-year-old made more than 30 appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring two goals, including a decisive late winner in the FA Cup quarter-finals against Sheffield United.

“Dani was an integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent shape,” said Arteta.

“I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he is a very skilled player. We are delighted to welcome him back and look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”

The club’s technical director, Edu, was also delighted with the return of the Spanish international to the Emirates, where he will wear jersey number 8 again.

He said: “We are delighted to have Dani back with us for the new season.

We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success.

Mikel Arteta was impressed by the midfielder

“We are excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.”

Arteta has enjoyed a productive first summer transfer window as Arsenal manager.

Optimism is growing in the red half of North London after the Gunners won the Community Shield last week.

Gabriel Magalhães was signed from Lille last week in what was a huge blow for the Gunners.

William Saliba, who was signed last summer but loaned back to Saint Etienne, will also be available for the national team.

Willian has left Chelsea free as confidence grows that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new contract amid months of uncertainty.
