Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in good spirits watching his teammates from Portugal train Tuesday night at their training base after testing positive for coronavirus.
The 35-year-old is asymptomatic and isolates himself at the national team’s Oeiras base outside Lisbon, and will miss Portugal’s Nations League clash against Sweden on Wednesday night.
But Ronaldo smiled for the cameras and gave a thumbs-up gesture as he watched his teammates train from the balcony of his room in the team complex, after the Portuguese Football Federation confirmed his positive result.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner played for Portugal against France in the Nations League and Spain in international friendlies last week, meaning he has recently come into contact with a host of soccer stars.
During the match against France on Sunday night, Ronaldo was seen shaking hands and with several major stars, including PSG’s Kylian Mbappé.
Ronaldo played all 90 minutes of the match at the Stade de France in Paris, which ended goalless.
There is concern for his international teammates after Ronaldo posed for a photo with them hours before the news was announced, with the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star smiling for a selfie at dinner.
Ronaldo immediately left the national team after returning his positive test and is now a question for the next Juventus matches.
Ronaldo’s result triggered another round of testing for the rest of the team, who tested negative.

Ronaldo’s test result now calls him into question for Juventus’ Champions League group stage match with Barcelona on October 28, which was scheduled to face long-time rival Lionel Messi.
