Tottenham ‘Strongly condemn ‘three players caught in the party
Tottenham has condemned Erik Lamela, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso for breaking the coronavirus rules.
The trio were photographed at a large party during the festive period, assisted by West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini, violating strict Level 4 guidelines.
The photo circulated on social media and the Spurs reacted angrily, and the three players faced disciplinary action.
Lamela was not named to the squad for Saturday’s lunchtime start against Leeds, with Reguilon on the bench, while Lo Celso is injured.
The club said in a statement: “We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this image that shows some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas, particularly as we know the sacrifices that everyone across the country made to stay safe during the period. festive.
“The rules are clear, there are no exceptions, and we regularly remind all of our players and staff about the latest protocols and their responsibilities to follow and set an example.
“The matter will be dealt with internally.”
West Ham also reminded Lanzini, who scored a last-gasp draw against Spurs in October, of his responsibilities.
