Nicola Sturgeon announces 11 areas in Scotland will move to stricter restrictions
Eleven local council areas in Scotland will move from Level 3 to Level 4 from 6pm Friday to December 11, the prime minister said.
Are:
- City of Glasgow
- Renfrewshire
- East Renfrewshire
- East Dunbartonshire
- West Dunbartonshire
- North Lanarkshire
- South Lanarkshire
- East Ayrshire
- South Ayrshire
- Stirling
- West Lothian
There will be no changes in 19 areas and two, East Lothian and Mid Lothian, will move from Level 3 to Level 2, he added.
What does that mean for level 4 areas?
Restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, non-essential shops and vacation rentals will be closed, although takeout will continue to function normally.
Indoor sports facilities will also be closed, although outdoor gyms and outdoor non-contact sports may continue.
Residents will not be able to meet anyone from another home inside a private home, although they can meet inside a public place as long as they maintain social distancing.
Up to six people, from two different households, can meet in a public place indoors and children under 12 do not count towards the total number of people.
The same rule of six applies to two different households that meet outdoors, although 12-17 year olds who meet in groups of up to six are not subject to the two-household limit.
The acts of worship inside are limited to a maximum of 20 people, provided that social distancing is maintained, while weddings must have a maximum capacity of 15 people – including the couple – and funerals can take place with a maximum of 20 guests.
Schools in Level 4 areas will remain open.
