Positive coronavirus cases are down 28% in England, weekly Test and Trace figures show.
Between November 19 and 25, 110,620 people tested positive for COVID-19 In England.
It marks a 28% decline from the previous week, reversing a trend in which cases rose sharply in late August.
The number of contacts of successfully tracked cases increased after the Test and Trace system stopped trying to contact children under 18 years of age separately, according to the report.
The new figures show that 72.5% of the 246,604 people identified as close contacts of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 were reached in the week to November 25.
It comes after weeks close to a record low of about 60% of positive case contacts that were successfully tracked.
“Contact with individuals under the age of 18 in a household will no longer be traced, as long as the parent or guardian at home confirms that they have fulfilled their legal duty to inform their child to isolate himself,” said the department of health and social care on Thursdays.
“This operational improvement has resulted in an increase in the proportion of contacts reached, and the proportion reached in 24 hours.”
The recent change means that it is no longer possible to historically compare the proportion of contacts that have been reached each week in Test and Trace.
