Two people have been fined £ 10,000 each for hosting a flat party with more than 60 guests in Leicester.

Bodycam footage showed officers knocking on the door of the property, which is in a Level 3 area, where any domestic mixing indoors is prohibited, on December 12.

One of the officers says to the person who opens the door: “Hello friend, are you okay? What’s going on?”

When the officer discovers that there were about 60 people packed inside, he exclaims “wooaaah” and orders everyone who does not live there to leave and adds: “The party is over.”

An officer is later seen telling a host that they will be reported, to which a voice responds, “Yes.”

Leicestershire police said they released the footage from the King Street party to “reinforce the message that people should follow the coronavirus rules or run the risk of being fined. “

The force said that in two weeks, 37 fines worth £ 23,500 have been issued for COVID-19 infractions of the rules.

Twenty notices of fixed penalties were delivered in connection with a meeting in cars near Leicester General Hospital on Saturday, the force added.
