They used planes, fire trucks, and other vehicles to spell ‘NHS Thank You,’ and a water cannon salute formed behind the vehicles.

Manchester Airport currently remains open for a small number of essential flights. There are still some airport-based staff members, such as airline workers, delivery agents, and the fire service, all classified as key workers.

Bus drivers and firefighters in Northern Ireland were also among those who appreciated the NHS on Thursday.

The fire service organized banners at some Co Antrim stations with the now-known rainbow.

Public transport provider Translink also placed buses in a heart-shaped Londonderry depot, while Derry city ground staff and emergency response members stopped to applaud health workers.

People took to Twitter an hour before the applause after seeing rainbows in various parts of the country.

The rainbow has been adopted as a symbol for weekly applause and a Twitter user @ Pazza_81 commented “that’s a moment” after the colorful screens lit up the sky.
