Fourteen coronavirus deaths were recorded in Devon and Cornwall hospitals over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the latest NHS figures show.
The deaths, which were recorded between December 17 and Christmas Day, report eleven deaths at Royal Devon Hospitals and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, with two deaths at Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and one at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
Five of the fourteen deaths were recorded on Christmas Eve, and one on Christmas Day. The data covers the reporting periods of the previous two days of the NHS daily reports.
The totals come as the NHS announced 161 deaths in England in data released today, December 26, with 401 announced yesterday (Christmas Day). Data during the holiday season may be delayed, which means that more deaths may be recorded in the coming days.
The eleven deaths in the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation trust include one death reported on December 17, two on December 21, three on December 23, four on Christmas Eve and one on Christmas Day.
There were two reported deaths at the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trusts with one death on December 23 and another on December 24, while one death at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust occurred on December 22.
