A three-tier lockdown could see tougher restrictions imposed in England if lower-tier measures fail to control coronavirus cases, according to reports.
A leaked document – seen by The Guardian – revealed that the most severe measures under the traffic light scheme would imply the closure of all hospitality businesses, including bars, and the prohibition of all social contact between households. Paris bars will be forced to close for two weeks starting Tuesday, as the French capital is on high Covid-19 alert.
It comes as the UK set another daily record of nearly 23,000 new coronavirus cases on Sunday night, after a computer glitch caused nearly 16,000 infections to go out between September 25 and October 2.
It seems that airport bosses might finally have good news, as the government has indicated that it may allow tests to reduce the length of quarantine for arrivals to the UK.
On Saturday Stephen Barclay, chief secretary of the Treasury, told the Conservative Party conference that the government is looking at “what evidence we can have at airports and how that interacts with quarantine rules.”
Heathrow has been asking for tests at airports for four months.

You probably thought you had heard it all for the past six months, but a computer glitch is blamed for the UK setting a new daily record of nearly 23,000 coronavirus cases on Sunday night.
