The rate of new coronavirus cases in Wales has nearly doubled in the past three days, with more than 200 new positive cases registered since Friday.
The latest figures from Public Health Wales (PHW) confirmed on Sunday 6 September that 98 new cases were registered in Wales. It follows 77 new cases on Saturday and 51 on Friday.
The rising number has prompted warnings of a possible local shutdown in Caerphilly, where authorities say there has been an “alarming increase” in new infections over the past week.
It comes when a total of nine schools have been affected by Covid-19 since the children returned to classrooms last week.
The latest involves a staff member, who works at the Ysgol Friars canteen in Bangor, who tested positive for coronavirus this weekend.
Another case has also been confirmed at Ysgol Bro Edern in Cardiff, where a total of 30 children have been told to isolate themselves for two weeks.

Dr Giri Shankar of Public Health Wales said the increase in cases in recent weeks has been in the 15-44 age group.
He told BBC Radio Wales: “It is the social distancing measures that have been put in place that are not being followed. Therefore, it is a matter of time before the infection finally passes from one particular age group to another group. old. It won’t take us long to see that increase. “
He said the number of coronavirus cases to be confirmed today is expected to be higher than Sunday.
Dr Shankar said, “It is not just one particular scenario that these cases and groups arise from, but they arise from several different scenarios. For example, they relate to a house party where there was no social distancing, there are clusters of cases. that arise from pubs, bars, gyms. There are cases that arise from trips abroad, and so on.
