A new death from coronavirus has been recorded in Wales and there has been a large increase in the number of positive tests.
The latest figures from Public Health Wales (PHW) confirmed on Saturday 5 September have shown that 77 new cases were recorded.
That brings the total number of cases to 18,283 in Wales since the start of the pandemic.
Public Health Wales also warned that there has been a “steady increase” in cases, especially in parts of Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly.
Dr Christopher Williams, Incident Director for Covid-19 Outbreak Response at Public Health Wales, said: “We are now seeing a steady increase in cases and our investigations show that many of these have been transmitted due to a lack of social distancing.
“This has resulted in the spread of the virus to other groups of people.
“We continue to call on everyone to remember that even if they feel they would not be seriously affected by Covid-19 if they tested positive, they should pass it on to older or more vulnerable family, friends or colleagues. it could be extremely serious and even fatal.
“The coronavirus has not disappeared. It remains everyone’s responsibility to help prevent the spread of this virus, that is, by isolating themselves when asked, staying six feet from others and washing their hands regularly. “
Over the past 24 hours, the Aneurin Bevan board of health which includes the Caerphilly area recorded the most positive cases with 24, closely followed by Cwm Taf which includes Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) with 19 and the board area Swansea Bay health score with 10.
Rhondda Cynon Taf had the highest number of confirmed cases today with 15, followed by 14 in the Caerphilly local authority area and nine in Swansea.
Monmouthshire, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Vale of Glamorgan, Anglesey and Pembrokeshire did not record any cases.

The area of Wales with the highest rate of coronavirus infections, judging by the total of seven days per 100,000 inhabitants, is still Caerphilly.
Health agencies closely monitor the weekly total as a way to track the spread of the virus.

In the last seven days there have been 56 positive cases in Caerphilly, which is equivalent to 30.9 cases per 100,000 people. This is twice as high as the next highest local authority, Cardiff (15 per 100,000).
A local lockdown in Caerphilly could be enforced amid a surge in coronavirus cases.
Residents are cautioned that the restrictions could return if the number of cases continues to rise throughout the area.
On Friday, the Caerphilly council issued a statement saying the county had witnessed an “alarming increase” in new infections over the past week.
Following the surge in cases, the township’s nursing homes have also been forced to close their doors to visitors while asking people not to travel “too far” outside the county in the coming days.
A temporary trail test center will also be operational in the Caerphilly Leisure Center car park starting Saturday.
People in the lower Rhondda area are also being told to maintain social distancing after a spike in Covid-19 cases in several cities.
Public Health Wales, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board issued a joint statement following an increase in cases in the area. The top three cities were Tonypandy, Porth, and Penygraig.
