The number of people who died of coronavirus in hospitals, nursing homes and the wider community in the UK increased from 621 to 28,131.
The number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus increased 4,806 to 182,260.
Meanwhile, the number of people in the hospital with the virus It dropped 15,111 to 14,695.

In England, a total of 370 people who tested positive for coronaviruses died in hospitals, bringing the total number of deaths to 20,853.
Another 44 people have died in Wales, bringing the total number of deaths there to 969, Public Health Wales said.
In Northern Ireland, the number of deaths increased from 11 to 376, and in Scotland it increased from 44 to 1,559.
Figures released today by NHS England show that April 8 still has the highest number of hospital deaths occurring in a single day, totaling 864.
Of the 370 new deaths in England announced on Saturday, 75 occurred on May 1, 149 occurred on April 30 and 52 on April 28.
The figures also show that 85 of the new deaths occurred between April 1 and April 28, while the remaining nine deaths occurred in March, and the earliest death occurred on March 13.
NHS England publishes daily updated figures showing the dates of each coronavirus-related death in England’s hospitals, and often includes previously unrecounted deaths that occurred several days or even weeks ago.
This is due to the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as positive for COVID-19, for post-mortem examinations to be performed, and for validation of test data.
