Contestants face ‘Gates of Hell’ trial on first night

Yis, for the first time in its 18-year history, an ITV favorite I’m a celebrity, get me out of here! has moved from the Australian bush to a place much closer to home, i.e. Hedge Castle on the coast of Conwy. Yes, even reality TV franchises are taking a stay in 2020 enforced by Covid.

Good evening and welcome to our I’m a celebrity live blog for the 2020 series launch – an excellent 90 minute edit. It’s the castle on the dot at 21:00 h on ITV, when our 10 pioneering campmates will first venture onto the Grade I listed farm.

This year’s contestants include the Olympian hero For Farah, journalist Victoria Derbyshire, ex Strictly pro AJ Pritchard, presenter Vernon “Tess Daly’s husband” Kaye and vlogger (and friend of Kate Middleton) Giovanna fletcher – plus the usual gang of soap opera actors and young people you haven’t heard of.

Cheeky georgie chipmunks Ant and Dec They are back in their hosting duties, trying to hide their discontent that they are not enjoying five-star luxury, sunbathing and golfing on the Gold Coast this time.

So who will stand the first Bushtucker trial at home? Will tripe, sheep’s trotters and stale Welsh pies replace traditional Down Under delicacies? Will anyone be scared off by the castle’s resident ghost? And who are the first candidates to be crowned King or Queen of the Castle?
