COLEEN Rooney warned Rebekah Vardy that she is ready for an argument at her defamation trial, promising, “They won’t harass me.”
Her defiance comes after Becky launched an attempt to get her to court more quickly. But Coleen told her friends that she is not intimidated by “heavy-handed tactics.” A source said: “Coleen is absolutely sure.”
Coleen said Becky’s attempt to force her into a libel trial as soon as possible is “a laughable heavy-handed tactic.”
But Coleen, 34, insisted she was not worried and is willing to fight. Becky’s legal team appeared in Superior Court last week in an attempt to speed up the process.
It came amid claims that Coleen was dragging his heels by failing to present a defense.
When the Wags finally go to court, a judge will decide whether the 34-year-old Coleen defamed Becky when he accused her of leaking stories about the Rooneys.
A source said: “Coleen thinks it’s ridiculous. She is confident and is certainly not dragging her heels.
“Coleen changed his legal team and they are gathering the evidence and preparing to present the strongest case possible.
Coleen has said that he will not be intimidated by heavy-handed tactics, nor will he back down. Becky’s team is trying to flex her muscles.
“But they wanted a fight, so Coleen will bring them one.”
A spokesperson for Coleen, the wife of former England captain Wayne, did not respond to a request for comment.
The Sun recounted on Saturday how Becky, the wife of 33-year-old Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy, wants an interim audience later this year.
Coleen was dubbed Wagatha Christie after she took to Twitter to say her investigations showed that stories leaked to the press about her originated from Becky’s Instagram account. Becky vehemently denied it.
An attempt at mediation failed after Becky asked for a full public apology.
