A British woman has been named who died when she was reportedly run over by a speedboat that was towing a water skier off Corfu.
Claire Glatman, 60, who lived near Bedale, North Yorkshire, was injured on Avlaki Beach, in the northeast of the Greek island on Monday.
Local media reported that the speedboat did not stop at the scene and was later found abandoned.
The Greek Coast Guard said Ms Galtman’s body “showed obvious signs of having been hit by a ship’s propeller.”
Other unconfirmed reports say that three British men whose families have property in Corfu have been questioned about the death.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Ms Glatman, originally from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, died of bleeding and multiple injuries.
A spokeswoman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Ministry said Tuesday: “We are supporting the family of a British woman after her death in Corfu and our staff are in contact with the Greek police.”
“Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
