Chinese President Xi tells his soldiers to ‘focus on preparing for WAR’ while visiting a marine base

Chinese President Xi Jinping urged his navy soldiers to focus on preparing for war during a visit to a military base in southern China.

Yesterday he told his Navy troops to ‘concentrate all [your] Minds and energy in preparing for war and maintaining a high level of alertness, ‘reported the state broadcaster CCTV, citing the leader.

Xi’s call for combat readiness comes as political tensions have erupted between China and self-governing Taiwan, which Beijing considers its own.

President Xi delivered the speech on Tuesday while inspecting the Marine Corps of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy in Chaozhou, Guangdong province.

The communist leader has been touring the southern region of China since Monday. Today he participates in the celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

While visiting the marine base, Xi urged the soldiers to ‘accelerate the upgrade [their combat capabilities]’to become an elite force’ multifunctional, rapid response, all weather and region ‘.

He also told troops to focus on preparing for war while still being very vigilant, according to CCTV.

‘Focus everything [your] Minds and energies to prepare for war and maintain a high level of alertness, said Xi, who is also chairman of China’s Central Military Commission.

The Chinese leader also said that the Navy assumed important duties to “safeguard the security of the country’s sovereignty and maritime interests.”

President Xi today delivered another speech marking the establishment of the country’s first economic zone in the southern city of Shenzhen, four decades earlier.

Carrie Lam, Hong Kong’s pro-Beijing leader, attended the ceremony, after announcing on Monday that she would postpone an annual political speech scheduled for that day, as did Ho Iat Seng, Macau’s chief executive.

Xi’s speech also called for more exchanges between the two territories and Taiwan, as well as with overseas Chinese, and “strengthen their sense of belonging to the motherland.”

The news comes after tensions between Taiwan and China soared over the weekend when China threatened to seize Taiwan by conducting live-fire military exercises of “soldiers taking an island.”

On Sunday, Beijing also broadcast an alleged confession from a Taiwanese businessman who is being held captive by Chinese authorities on espionage charges.

The communist government has increased pressure on the democratic island since the election of President Tsai Ing-wen in 2016, who rejects its view that Taiwan is part of ‘one China’.

Washington’s greater reach to Taiwan under President Donald Trump has become another flash point with Beijing as the United States and China clash over a variety of trade and security issues, as well as the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, China released a propaganda video showing nuclear-capable bombers carrying out a simulated attack on what appears to be the United States’ Andersen Air Force Base on the Pacific island of Guam.
