Chelsea are eager to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice before the transfer window closes.
Frank Lampard wants to bring in a defensive midfielder and Chelsea are set to make an offer of more than £ 40 million before the October 5 deadline, The Sun reported.
Chelsea are confident of signing the English international as they believe West Ham is desperate for funding.

Rice, who was fired by Chelsea when he was 14, has already made 100 Premier League appearances at age 21.
His contract runs through the summer of 2024, but West Ham might be tempted to sell it, especially when co-chair David Sullivan admitted the club has struggled to sign new players due to lack of funds.
Chelsea have been very active in the transfer market, securing deals for Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz, Malang Sarr and Edouard Mendy.
