Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has opened up about what it was like to play Liverpool transfer target Thiago Alcántara, admitting he “couldn’t get close” to the Bayern Munich star.
The midfield master has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League champions this summer when he has only one year left on his current contract with the Bundesliga giants.
Thiago was the star of Bayern when they beat Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate in the knockout stage of the Champions League on their way to victory in the elite European competition last month.

Mount, who broke into Chelsea’s first team with Frank Lampard last season, has shed light on the quality of Bayern and Thiago.

After comfortably beating Chelsea, Bayern humbled Barcelona 8-2 and then eliminated Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain to complete last season’s hat-trick.
