Celtic fans gather at Parkhead despite warnings from Nicola Sturgeon to stay away

The ultra-Celtic group, the Green Brigade, continued to make clear to players the importance of today’s clash with the Rangers when the Hoops team bus arrived in Paradise, despite pleas for fans not to congregate for the game.

Neil Lennon, Steven Gerrard and even Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon had asked fans to stay away from the stadium today and enjoy the game in the safety of their homes.

But his message was not heard as a group of fans greeted the arrival of their heroes with smoke bombs and firecrackers that emitted green smoke and a banner that read simply: “Today, nothing else matters.”

The message will have been received loud and clear by the players ahead of today’s Scottish Premiership Scottish derby.

While fans won’t be on the field today for the first time in accessory history, the Hoops’ support has been working to ensure their message is still heard.

Yesterday the group put up a banner at the club’s Lennoxtown training center that read: “We are here for you, be there for us.”

A video was released on social media last night showing fans descending into the training center to raise the banner and greet the players as they arrived for training.

Neil Lennon and his players could be seen applauding fans in appreciation for their efforts.

Lennon has been a vocal supporter of the group after the Irishman received their endorsement in his first home game as permanent boss against St Mirren in 2010.
