Neil Lennon “has never questioned” his Celtic players and doesn’t know why “other people” do it after they moved into a game of a triple triple.
Celtic beat Aberdeen to earn a spot in the Scottish Cup final on 20 December and if they beat Hearts they will claim a twelfth consecutive trophy.
Sunday’s 2-0 win at Hampden was the first in five games for Lennon’s team.
“It’s never been seen before so I think they should leave a little slack,” Lennon said of his players.
“I’ve never questioned his character. Other people do it and I don’t know why. It’s an amazing achievement if we can do it.
“These players, their focus, desire and will to win is some of the best I have ever seen. They are achieving greatness as they go along and that is sometimes overlooked at times.”
Ryan Christie scored a surprising first goal for Celtic and Mohamed Elyounoussi crashed a second before the break, and Tom Rogic was involved in both goals.
It was the term Australian international’s sixth appearance after a summer move to the Middle East failed.
“He’s a class player,” Lennon said. “He has struggled with injuries. It has been very frustrating for him, but we know what we have with him.
“It’s a pleasure to see him sometimes and that was the case today. He just showed his class in the big moments.”
