London violence
Police are searching for a man who put an NHS worker in hospital after attacking him on a London bus.
CCTV footage shows a man beating the 63-year-old victim to the ground before slamming his head into service 149 near the Seven Sisters station.
The victim was left unconscious and has no recollection of the attack around 9:45 p.m. BST on August 23.
Police believe the assault began when the man avoided the assailant, who did not have his face covered.
No arrests have been made.
The victim works on the coronavirus track and trace system for the NHS, the Met said.
He suffered bruising and swelling to his face, but was released from the hospital the day after the attack.
PC Chris Bowman said: “We believe this was all caused by face masks.
“We believe that the attacker, who had his face covered under his chin, was offended when the victim, who was completely covered, consciously walked away from him.
“When the attacker follows the victim to the back of the bus, he can be seen pointing and gesturing towards the victim’s face mask before he begins to hit and kick her repeatedly.
“This was a totally unjustified violent assault and we urgently need to speak to this man.”
The attacker is described as a tall black man, approximately 23-25 years old, with an athletic build.
