Carlo Ancelotti says Everton have to “accept” the decision not to punish Edinson Cavani as it confirms that Richarlison is now “fine” after coming out with a worrisome head injury.
Cavani escaped an ejection during the Carabao Cup quarter-finals at Goodison after replays confirmed he had his hands on Yerry Mina’s neck with the Everton defender falling to the ground in their fight.
Referee Andy Madley decided not to sanction Cavani and with the VAR inoperative until the semi-finals, the Manchester United striker remained on the field.
And with three minutes remaining, the Uruguayan broke the tie to put the visitors on their way to the quarterfinals.
Richarlison, meanwhile. He was stunned after Eric Bailly collided with him with a flying challenge that went unpunished.
The Brazilian was pushed further into Bailly’s path by a push from Bruno Fernandes and appeared to be unconscious when he fell to the ground, but both United players escaped censorship.
Ancelotti described the incident as “dangerous” but says it was a “risk” for all the players involved.
The Blues boss, who said he hadn’t seen any replay of Cavani’s actions, was philosophical about the fact that there wasn’t a VAR to make the referee look again.
“Richarlison is fine now,” he said.
“No problem. We will check in the next few days what is happening.

Richarlison seemed to want to continue, but Everton doctor John Hollingsworth insisted he had to quit.
“Our doctor was in full control of the situation, he decided to take him out and I totally agreed with him,” Ancelotti said.
“He was in control of the situation and the well-being of the player.”
