The reports sparked a furious backlash on the Daily Express Facebook page.
One reader commented: ‘Well Scotland is part of Great Britain, so what’s wrong with that? Scots make their own version in the Holyrood parking lot with a special Argos gazebo and some party balloons, as that’s all they could afford after independence! “
Another raged: “Now she’s getting ridiculous, she needs to be controlled and fast.”
A third said, “What’s wrong with this woman?”
Another added: “Further proof that she despises the rest of the UK but doesn’t mind taking our cash, no, she wants more and more of that.”
A fifth published: “It adapts well to the EU, it is mean, out of its depth, carrying its country down.”
One more said: “If the Scots want the UK and Britain to secede, just keep voting for Sturgeon, keep voting for SNP.

The festival has been inspired by the Great Exhibition of 1851 and the Festival of Great Britain of 1951.
At the time, Ms. May said that the festival would strengthen “our precious union.”
She said: “Just as millions of Britons celebrated their nation’s great achievements in 1951, we want to show what makes our country great today.”
Whitehall sources told Express.co.uk that the SNP’s stance on the festival was “quite annoying and frustrating.”
When asked, the Scottish government declined to say whether the removal of the words “UK” and “Great Britain” had been requested.
A Scottish government spokesman said: ‘Ministers have not even seen any branding proposals to take a position on and have suggested that a similar approach to the Pan Cultural Olympiad UK at the time of the London Olympics would work well for this.
“The Scottish government has been constructively engaged from an early stage.”
