One called him a “moron” and wrote: “How bad are you, what a scoundrel?”

Another claimed that his Greek lawyer friends living in London agreed with him when he wrote: “Murderers and rapists are shown more justice than Maguire and his colleagues.”

One City fan even emailed and said: “I’m actually a Manchester City fan who would love to see Maguire found guilty, but I still believe he is entitled to a fair trial.”

He continued: “How can you go home tonight after being involved in that charade!

“Such lack of professionalism demonstrated by you and the Greek authorities, is a complete disgrace for you and also for Greece itself.”

Another called the lawyer “dumb” and said, “You should hang your head in shame.”

Paradissis suffered the abuse hours after the footballer was convicted of assault, assault on a policeman, verbal assault and bribery.

He said: “It horrifies me that people can say those things and stand up for Harry Maguire. They should be mad at him, not at me. “
