Rhian Brewster (£ 4.5m) is on Sheffield United’s bench for the Blades’ home clash with Fulham this afternoon.
The budget preview was submitted by more than 175,000 coaches before Gameweek 5, but he has to settle for a spot on Chris Wilder’s team of the day.
On the decision to leave Brewster out of the starting lineup, the manager explained:
It was close, it was a difficult decision. He trained well but it was a difficult decision. He will play a role and it’s great to have him in the building. We are not only here to get results now, we are also building for the future of the club.
Sheffield United have only managed one goal so far this season, a David mcgoldrick (£ 5.4m) strike against Arsenal during a 2-1 loss at Gameweek 4.
The Irish forward and his international colleague John egan (£ 4.9 million) both start at Bramall Lane. McGoldrick was a doubt due to injury, while center midfielder Egan has been cleared to play after being noted as a close contact of a positive Covid-19 case in the Ireland team.
Another irish in Even Stevens (£ 5.4m) sees a change in position on the left back, which means budget defender Jack Robinson (£ 4.4 million) only the bank does.
That sees a start for the summer signing Max lowe (£ 4.4 million) on the left side, while Oliver Norwood (£ 4.8m) returns to the starting lineup in midfield.
McGoldrick joins the front line by Oli McBurnie (£ 5.7 million) in Wilder’s familiar 3-5-2 system, with £ 4.5 million from midfielder Oliver Burke – who had been charging a hit – falling to the bank
Fulham have scored three goals so far this season, all during a 4-3 loss to Leeds in GW2, with both teams desperate for a win at Bramall Lane today after four consecutive losses apiece.
New signings Tosin Adarabioyo (£ 4.5 million) and Chelsea loan Ruben Loftus-Cheek (5.9 million pounds) both go directly into Scott Parker’s XI.
Ademola Lookman (£ 5.0 million) also earns a starting spot after impressing on his debut off the bench at GW4 when the Cottagers lost 1-0 to Wolves.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (£ 5.9m) leads the Fulham line again, while Antonee robinson (£ 4.4 million) is favored on the left back over Joe bryan (£ 4.9 million). Michael Hector (£ 4.4 million) is not part of Matchday 18.
Joachim andersen (£ 4.5m), another new central defender at Craven Cottage, is ready to spend some time on the treatment table with damaged ankle ligaments.
On the defender and other injury issues, Scott Parker explained:
We have had very bad news with Andersen, who has obviously just arrived at the football club. He injured his ankle in training, so he will be out for the foreseeable future.
I don’t want to put a real time scale on it, but it will be a few weeks. It’s disappointing of course because we had it for two days, we saw its quality, but we’re going to be without it now for a while.
Hopefully we’ll get it right, rehabilitate him, and get him back as part of the team.
Kenny TeteHe is still struggling and will be out for a few weeks. Mario Leminahe’s back, he’s been training now for 10 days. Harrison reed he’s coming, but the weekend will come too early for him.
