Boy George has revealed why he did not participate in Live Aid, 35 years after the historic concert.

The Culture Club leader, 58, said he had failed to act because he was “chemically compromised.”

He told the Grounded With Louis Theroux podcast, “I screwed it up. Otherwise, I was chemically compromised.”

“I mean, I think it was a stroke of luck that we didn’t do it because I wasn’t in a position to do it.”

He said, “We were originally asked, but then I think everyone was looking at me and saying, ‘This could be more harmful than good.’ So they basically didn’t follow him.”

However, the singer starred in the Band Aid song Do The Know It’s Christmas.

The world rock concert was opened at London’s Wembley Stadium by Prince Charles and Princess Diana in July 1985.

It was conducted to raise money to alleviate hunger-affected areas of Africa.

The 16-hour event was watched by more than a billion viewers in 110 countries.
