Terence Crawford went 37-0 (28 KOs) tonight in Las Vegas, rejecting a challenge from former welterweight champion Kell Brook via a violent stoppage in the fourth round in ESPN’s main event.
Crawford sensed things early, as he usually does, but once he saw the openings, he was clearly looking to jump. He had that opportunity quite early in the quarter, and he seriously injured Brook, scoring a knockdown when Brook staggered against the ropes, and then finished almost as fast as boxing resumed.
While beating the 34-year-old Brook (39-3, 27 KO) may not be the thing to change the minds of anyone who still doubted Crawford, or still doubts his place among the sport’s elite (not many, but certainly there are some who do), there really can be no doubt that Crawford ranks among the top finalists in boxing, if not the best finalist in boxing today. When it smells blood, it closes.
That was a big focus of the post-fight chatter, even from a few fellow pros. See what they had to say after the sudden end of the fight:
Terrance Crawford is a fucking dog!

By the way, I still have Canelo as the best P4P in the world. We have the sight test BUT who you fight is still a big factor. Canelo fought the best opposition.

What makes Crawford so good to me is the ability to make adjustments in the ring.

So!!!!! Crawford adapts like nobody else. Slow start with him means NOTHING. Wow. The man is legit. #boxing

Big fighter. He hit a switch! That is why it is the # 1 P4P. Not a controversial or close victory. All conclusive. I feel bad for Brook. Skillful guy. He has a heart. It just doesn’t respond well to adversity.
