Locals say a painter visited the hostel on Friday afternoon, only to discover the ‘body of a woman’ in a suitcase above a lounge in The Crescent.
Stores below Pay and Sleep Hostels confirmed that police visited yesterday afternoon looking for CCTV footage of the area.
Met Police confirmed it was investigating an ‘unexplained death’, following the discovery just before 3pm Friday.
Scotland Yard did not confirm the gender of the body or any other identifying details.

The owner of Shabana Hair and Beauty Salon confirmed tonight that officers had visited the salon around 6 p.m. to inquire about CCTV coverage.
Images from March 2018 show that a ‘Pay and Sleep Hostel’ service was operating above the stores, but a banner promoting the service has since been removed.
The businesses below confirmed that the hostel service is still in operation, with visitors coming and going regularly.
A spokesman for the Met Police said tonight: ‘Officers are investigating following an unexplained death in Southall.
