A body has been found in the search for a teenage girl who disappeared Sunday night with her phone turned off.
Seesha Dack had not been seen since around 7pm near Fish Quay in North Shields, near Newcastle, after being separated from a group of friends.
Today a police boat was photographed searching the River Tyne as a helicopter circled overhead.
Meanwhile, specialized search teams searched a disused warehouse on an industrial estate in Fish Quay.
Formal identification has yet to be made, but authorities believe a body found tonight in the Tanners Bank area of North Shields is Seesha’s.
Before her disappearance, the teenager met a small group of friends, with whom she spent a couple of hours before returning home around 7 p.m. Sunday.
A large search operation was launched to find the girl, whose phone was turned off, leaving friends and family unable to reach her.
Seesha had never been reported missing to the police and her disappearance has been described as “out of place”.
Speaking today, the girl’s mother, Victoria Dack, 33, said: ‘Seesha is a confident, outgoing, happy and bubbly girl. She means the world to us.
We just want your home to be safe. I call her my girl. If you are reading this, I want to let you know that I love and miss you. You’re not in any trouble, I just want you to be home.
In announcing the discovery of a body, Northumbria Police Superintendent Barrie Joisce said: “This is an extremely sad conclusion to an extensive investigation.
‘Specialist officers are supporting Seesha’s family during this incredibly difficult time and our thoughts are with them.
‘I want to thank everyone who assisted in our search by sharing our appeals, searching the area and those who have called us on the phone with possible sightings.
“We will continue to conduct investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, but at this time we do not believe that there is third party involvement.”
