Police are urging motorists to slow down after a series of accidents on the roads this morning.
Temperatures plummeted overnight causing dangerous conditions, leaving snow in East Cornwall and on Dartmoor.
But it seems that not all drivers have modified their speed to suit the conditions.
This morning officers from the Devon and Cornwall Police No Excuse road safety team dealt with an incident where a BMW was severely damaged on the A30.
Footage from the scene shows the blue vehicle with significant damage.
The accident, which occurred in Fivelanes, west of Launceston, was unpleasant enough that the driver was “very lucky to have only minor injuries,” according to police.
Devon and Cornwall Police were unable to add further details.
Several incidents have been reported on the A30 in Indian Queens and the A38 in Trerulefoot and Saltash.
Heavy snow fell on Dartmoor and much of East Cornwall overnight.
The images show dangerous driving conditions on many roads in the region.
On the A391 in Penwithick, Cornwall, an accident was reported when cars ran off the road, according to the Inrix traffic service.
It has now been cleared, but video footage from the scene showed the road covered in snow.
According to the Exeter Met Office, temperatures are expected to stay low in the coming days.
A lot of cloudy weather and rain are also forecast.
There are yellow weather warnings for snow in various places in the UK, but none cover the South West.
