Teemu Pukki scored twice as Norwich maintained their impressive recent form and stayed on top of the championship with victory at Blackburn.
The Finnish international raised his goal tally with the Canaries to 50 in the process with one in each half, on either side of Harvey Elliott’s draw for Blackburn.
The first was a good turn and a shot from Alex Tettey’s pass to find the bottom left corner and his second saw him deftly deflect Emi Buendia’s shot from outside the penalty area past a hapless Thomas Kaminski.
Previously, the Rovers had pushed Norwich hard when Sam Gallagher slammed a shot off the crossbar early in the second half before Elliott, on loan from Liverpool, scored a magnificent goal in a solo career and finished off the right wing.
Norwich are three points clear at the top, ahead of second-placed Bournemouth after a third consecutive victory.
They will travel to fifth-place Reading on Wednesday after losing just once in their last 14 games.
Pukki, who was named the player of the season in his promotion-winning 2018-19 season, has now scored nine times this season in 16 appearances.
At first, he seemed a bit lucky to score the winner in this one, but replays showed that he had the awareness to spread his feet to direct Buendia’s drive to the far corner.
Blackburn is now winless in their previous three games and was beaten at home for the first time in four games at Ewood Park.
Tony Mowbray’s side fell to 12th before a meeting with Rotherham on Wednesday.
