Viewers of Britain’s Got Talent may have figured out how one contestant handled his absolutely hideous act in the first semi-final on Saturday night, or at least how he survived.
Judges Amanda Holden, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Ashley Banjo, who replaces the injured Simon Cowell, sat on the edge of their seats as James Stott put his life in their hands.
The super dangerous act left many in fear that he could be seriously injured on television.
But now, some viewers believe they have seen how he did it, or at least something that worked in his favor.
They noticed something towards the end of the performance, which made their box different from the others it was not in, while another theory arises from this.
As many noted that the table he was sitting on survived the weight that crashed on top of it, others believed they had seen a secret hatch, while one onlooker claimed to have noticed multiple cards hidden in the assistant’s hand, ready to be chosen. by the judges.
James initially spoke in a video played on a screen in the studio, and on stage were five numbered cardboard boxes, one of which he was in.
On top of each box was a ton of weight, tied with a rope directly above where it might be.
One at a time, each judge had to choose a colored card that had a number representing each box on the back.
After choosing a card, they were told its number and had to walk up to a detonator and press it when they were ready.
The rigged weight would then release and land on the chosen box crushing it completely. The audience began to gasp and scream as each judge released their number.
He got to the last two boxes, with James in one of them, and Ashley had to choose which one to smash.
He went with number two and when he hit the detonator and smashed that box, suddenly the camera went funny and James was no longer on the screen.
While everyone gasped, the judges and hosts Ant and Dec nervously looked around because nothing was wrong.
Not knowing if James was okay, they were relieved when he suddenly used a knife to pry his way out of the box that hadn’t been crushed.
To prove it was not a setup, he then pressed the detonator to confirm that the weight on it would have fallen and crushed the box.
But eagle-eyed fans think there was more to it than that, after several began to notice that the table the box it was on rested on wasn’t breaking.
When the other four boxes were smashed, the table went with them and collapsed, while his did not.
On Twitter, viewers speculated that there was something about this that was key to showing that he may not have been in danger after all, or that he knew the judges would never have chosen his box.
One onlooker said, “Why was the box I was in the only one that didn’t break the table? How fake haha!”
Another tweeted: “Has to be one of the reasons his table didn’t collapse.”
A third added: “Why didn’t table 4 shatter like the others did? The weight just landed on the table … Armed!”
This was echoed by another fan who said, “Why then didn’t the weight break the table?”
Another said: “It’s interesting that the table that had the box on with the marine in it didn’t break, but all the others did. Maybe because the weight on his box wasn’t a ton, so if he dropped it in the box, wouldn’t it have hurt? “
Meanwhile, another theory went, “hahaha look how the last table didn’t break because there’s a stuck door like those bitches.” This show.”
However, this does not explain how he knew that the judges would not have chosen his box, but a spectator also resolved this.
They added: “Maybe that happened because he has a lot of envelopes in his hand.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs Saturdays at 8pm on ITV.
