BBC bosses are set to offer their own show to fired ITV This Morning hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
The Sun on Sunday may reveal that the TV couple, both in their 60s, were told they were going to be pulled from their weekly Friday schedule a month ago.
Her This Morning duties have been awarded to collaborator Alison Hammond, 45, and former X Factor host Dermot O’Leary, 47.
Now BBC executives hope to hire Eamonn and Ruth when they are not doing the version of This Morning for hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
A TV source said: “Eamonn and Ruth have a great fan base and a lot of experience.
“They can easily carry any number of shows, so the producers of the Beeb are considering giving them a format up front.”
Meanwhile, Dermot broke his silence on the shakeup, telling an Irish show: “It is always tricky when colleagues and friends are involved.
“Nothing is confirmed yet.”
