Barcelona will demand 250 million pounds for Lionel Messi and have identified the player they want to replace him, according to the latest reports.
Manchester City remain linked to Messi, who did not attend pre-season testing in Barcelona on Sunday as the dispute over his contract continues. Messi feels he has activated a clause to go free, but the club, and now La Liga, insist that the clause is not applicable and any buying club must pay the £ 630 million release clause.
However, the Mirror says that Barcelona expects to receive 250 million pounds for Messi and that it would allow him to leave at that price. The report adds that City feel Messi’s signing would convince Pep Guardiola to extend his contract at the Etihad for another three years.
The £ 250 million fee is claimed to be enough to persuade Barcelona to part ways with Messi and avoid a court battle over the contract dispute to receive the full termination clause.
On the other hand, the Telegraph reports that Barcelona bosses hope Messi will leave the Camp Nou and have started to line up his replacement.
They say that Barça will intensify their efforts to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez, who has been strongly linked with them throughout the summer.
Other players linked to Barcelona include Lyon winger Memphis Depay and Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum.
