Atalanta winger Amad Diallo will travel to England in early January to complete his transfer to Manchester United, a 25 million euro (£ 22.38 million) plus add-on deal agreed last summer.

The 18-year-old was waiting to receive an Italian passport, which would allow him to obtain a work permit to join Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side, and that came this week. United could end up paying 40 million euros for the highly rated teenager if he meets all the performance-related stipulations in his five-year contract.

The Ivorian has already spoken to Solskjær and is ready to embark on his adventure in England after five years with Atalanta. He has played five games for the Italian team, scoring once, but has been mainly on the bench this season.

Juventus were eager to sign the teenager, but United won the race and Solskjær will be delighted to have another option at the helm for the remainder of the season. United advanced to third place in the Premier League at the weekend after a 6-2 win over Leeds. Solskjær’s men are five points behind leaders Liverpool with one game less.
