Aston Villa star Louie Barry thanked Liverpool ace Fabinho for his generous gesture following the FA Cup showdown on Friday night.
The Reds finally saw a young and energetic Villa team 4-1 in their third-round tie at Villa Park.
Villa had to line up a team made up entirely of players under 23 and under 18 in the wake of a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.
However, they put up a valiant fight and the sides drew 1-1 after the first 45 minutes.
Teenager Barry scored Villa’s goal, canceling Sadio Mane’s opener.
Liverpool went on to take control of the tie, scoring three unanswered goals in the second half, courtesy of Gini Wijnaldum, Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Nonetheless, it was an unforgettable night for Barry, 17, and his young teammates.
At the final whistle, Barry enthusiastically swapped the jersey for Fabinho, only to be reminded by a backroom staff member at Villa that he might want to keep his own jersey for posterity.
Later, Barry had to chase and catch up with Fabinho in the tunnel and explained the situation to him.
The Liverpool man was very happy to return the shirt, while letting him keep his as well.
When asked about it afterwards, Barry told BT Sport: “I almost did (give away my jersey), but I remembered it was my debut jersey.
“Thanks to Fabinho, I also got (his) jersey, so I have both of them.”

Former Liverpool forward Michael Owen, who works as an expert on the game, said: “Fabinho gave him his jersey at the end, so he got two for the price of one.
“It’s a nice little moment and you know what? It happens a lot. Everybody is buying jerseys and you think it’s a memory for the future, when you really know what you’ve done in that match.
“But that’s your debut jersey, that’s even more important than anything else. That will be on your wall forever.”
