Villa insider explains owner Wes Edens’ message
Alan Hutton has provided a fascinating insight into the ambition of the Aston Villa owners.
Hutton worked in three owner groups during his long stint at Villa Park and spent his final season with Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.
Sawiris and Edens are hugely ambitious and the latter was recently signed up to suggest he wants Villa challenging for a place among the top four in the Premier League in the not too distant future.
“Obviously, the ambition is to stay up to date, it’s a competitive league, that first step is a big one,” Edens told Bloomberg.

Phillips says McGinn and Mings could be West Brom’s target
Kevin Phillips believes that West Bromwich Albion should be moved by Aston Villa duo John McGinn and Tyrone Mings in the next transfer window.
Slaven Bilic’s team is on track to move up to the Premier League if the season is restarted, while Villa is struggling to avoid leaving the top flight.
McGinn joined Villa for a £ 2.75m bargain from the Scottish Premier League team Hibernian two years ago and the action midfielder made the move to the top level with ease as he played a vital role in promoting the last season.
Mings has also proved his worth in the Premier League by having his Bournemouth loan become a permanent stay last summer, and the center-back made his England debut in October.

Villa gives hope to the Premier League after the decision of Switzerland
Aston Villa could have received a hint about his Premier League season after soccer in Switzerland received the go-ahead to resume.
Villa has been out of action for almost eight weeks after the coronavirus pandemic halted all elite-level encounters in England.
The 4-0 loss to Leicester City on March 9, Villa’s last game, left Dean Smith’s side two points from safety with a game in hand.
The top flight, and its clubs, remain committed to completing the season when it is safe to do so, and through a proposal called ‘Project Restart’ is reportedly working toward a return date in early June.

Man Utd forced to rethink Grealish
Manchester United’s interest in Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish could depend on the sale of Paul Pogba, according to reports.
Grealish is a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side after playing a starring role in Villa’s battle against relegation from the Premier League.
With seven goals and six assists in the league, Grealish has given Dean Smith’s team a chance to beat the fall, and United is reportedly willing to spend up to £ 70 million to complete a deal.
But Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth believes United will have to sell Pogba, linked to Real Madrid and Juventus, to finance moves for Jadon Sancho of Grealish and Borussia Dortmund.

Darren Bent believes Aston Villa should join the race for Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash when the transfer window opens.
High-ranking player Cash, 22, has received rave reviews from the Championship and is playing a key role in driving Forest forward for his promotion.
He has played 39 times for Forest this season, mainly as a right back, although he also feels comfortable on the field.
And Bent recognizes Villa, as long as they stay awake, and Leeds United, who is poised to win promotion to the Premier League once the season resumes, should fight for cash.

Major sporting events around the world have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic with the Premier League being suspended.
Plans are being discussed to allow people like Aston Villa to return to action in June, although the UK government has yet to give them the green light.
The games will be held behind closed doors initially with a limited number of people allowed inside the stadium, such as club officials and staff, to ensure that social distancing guidelines are met.
