Aston Villa is interested in signing Liverpool star Rhian Brewster for £ 20m, according to reports.
Dean Smith has been looking for a forward and failed in his search for Callum Wilson, who joined Newcastle on Monday.
Villa had a £ 15 million offer for the England forward rejected before the Magpies won the race with a £ 20 million offer.
Now The Sun says Villa has turned his attention to Brewster in a £ 20 million toss.
The 20-year-old scored 11 goals in 22 Championship appearances with Swansea on a loan period last season.
Burnley, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Fulham are known to have been monitoring Brewster’s situation at Anfield.
The England Under-21 striker has appeared in Liverpool’s preseason matches, but missed a decisive penalty in his loss on Community Shield’s penalty shoot-out to Arsenal.
Last month, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp admitted there was uncertainty surrounding Brewster’s future.
He said: “By the time it is, then we have to see what will happen in the next few weeks or so.
“We want to use Rhian, but we also want to help Rhian, so we have to make these decisions. But not now, obviously.
“It looks really promising, I know that goals are the most important thing in the world of football, so if he can score goals, that’s good.
“And everything else, we’ll see. He is still a young boy, and especially in this position number 9, experience helps a lot.
“We have seen how we can give him the experience. Is that here? Is it somewhere else? It’s not decided yet, why should we?
“There is absolutely no reason to rush.”
